Grant Agreements Signed for EU’s projects in Safe and Secure Truck Parking Areas
The European Union is making significant strides in improving transport infrastructure, with a record-breaking €7 billion invested through the 2023 Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for sustainable, safe, and smart transport initiatives. Of this amount, over €60 million has been allocated to 10 Safe and Secure Truck Parking Areas (SSTPAs) across Europe.
On July 17, 2024, the European Commission published the results of the CEF call for proposals, signalling a major advancement in Europe’s transport infrastructure. EUFUNDINGHUB, in partnership with ESPORG and The Funding Team, helped guide six of these projects through the application process, contributing to the successful acquisition of grants for these critical initiatives.
The projects, now formalized through completed grant agreements with the European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), include:
1. Safe and Secure Truck Parking area in Pinto in the South of Madrid on the Atlantic TEN-T Core Network Corridor (Spain)
Implemented by Atalaya Patrimonio Inmobiliario S.L, this Phase 1 project will establish a Gold-standard truck parking area for 125 heavy goods vehicles in the southern Madrid region, along the Atlantic TEN-T Core Network Corridor.
2. Extension s Temple & Mare Nostrum SSTPA Extensions AP-7 (Spain)
TRANSPORTES CALSINA Y CARRE SOCIEDAD LIMITADA will construct around 200 new parking spaces near Girona on the A7, enhancing the route connecting Spain and France with secure parking options.
3. Bapaume Truckstop A1 (France)
A Platinum-level facility accommodating 300 trucks is being developed by BTS Real Estate near Bapaume. This project will significantly improve road safety and offer a high-standard resting area for professional drivers.
4. Upgrade Upgrading a SSTPA in Calais to Gold Level (France)
Truck Parking Network France S.A.S is upgrading a parking area for 310 heavy goods vehicles to Gold-level certification in Calais, enhancing both security and safety standards.
5. Pinzler Park SECURE TRUCK PARKING (France)
SCI LUCIE will construct a Platinum-certified secure truck parking facility with 82 spaces, catering to the increasing need for safe, compliant truck parking options in this high-traffic area.
Along with our partners, we are proud to have supported these projects. Each one enhances transport safety and creates better working conditions for drivers, tackling longstanding challenges in the trucking industry.
The next CEF call for proposals opened in September 2024 and will accept applications until January 21, 2025. Those interested in securing EU funding for future infrastructure projects are encouraged to reach out for guidance.
